Jain Samaj Manchester is proud that one of its young member Sonia Patel, with two other girls from Withington Girls School are heading to Hong Kong after winning through to semi finals of the Poly U Globle Student Challenge, a prestigious international business competition, open to all schools throughout the world. Sonia and the other two girls who did the project jointly are among the four groups selected throughout the UK. Throughout the world only 30 teams were selected. The semi final and final will be in Hong Kong. The trio submitted a 20 page business plan, will present the case for business- a company named PowKine- and their product- a phone charger powered whilst you walk. The competition will take place with 30 teams from different countries of the world. Sonia and her team being qualified members of all shortlisted teams are sponsored for their flights and accommodation to/from Hong Kong  at the Semi/Final competition which is from 22 - 28th of June 2013.


PolyU Innovation and Entrepreneurship Global Student Challenge

It is a global business plan competition for secondary and university students.  A business plan competion for creative individuals with business flair. It gives a unique platform for international academic, cultural and professional exchanges and also gives an opportunity to turn their ideas into innovative producta or services. In 2011 Challenge, 191 teams from 27 regions/countries such as: Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe and North America had taken part. Each team have to be made of three students in the Secondary School Division, one of which is  the team leader . The team had to submit a brilliant business idea about a product or service, which was to be under one of the sub-themes: Health & Wellness, Lifestyle, Environment & Sustainability or Corporate Social Responsibility/Social Enterprise.
