The jains were a small minority before 1972. They used to celebrate the
religious festivals either at each others houses or in their own homes.
In year 1974 they decided to form an association and a constitution
was approved. Today there are more than 175 families living in and
around Manchester, most of this are immigrants originating from East
Africa and sudan.
To promote jain education and spiritual developement in tomorrows world
the" Jain community centre" with the funding from the members and the national lottery was
bought in the year1997 and the grand opening ceremony was performed on saturday 21st september 2002.
Jain samaj has always arranged varied and interesting programmes for its
members and also helped other organisations in their religious and
educational activities.
The magnificent marble temple was built and assembled by specialist
craftsmen from India and the doors of the temple were opened for the
members on Sunday 20th July2003.
The community centre is used by local communities and also the Elderly
citizens use this centre three times in a week.
Every sunday Satsang and Bhakti is held at the temple and more than
100 members attend and after the satsang, dinner is also provided.

to leave a lasting monument for our next generation which will promote
the true values of non-violence and peace in the world.
