Kitchen Committee is led by Mehul Mehta
Jain Samaj Manchester’s Kitchen Committee is involved in majority of the functions that happen at Jain Samaj Manchester.
Purpose
· To provide freshly prepared Jain food to our members.
· To support all other committee’s functions by providing meals within budgets.
· To support JDA committee in preparing and packing the meals for the Homeless drive.
Activities
· Sunday Pritibhojan
We provide freshly cooked Jain food almost every Sunday to our members. The food is prepared on the day in our community kitchen in accordance with Jainism rules, avoiding all root vegetables. We also follow the Jain calendar and provide tithi meals on the relevant days.
In 2024, we provided this for 48 weeks of the year, in total over 4000 meals were prepared.
For the pritibhojan a registration form is sent out each week.
The following charges apply for the Pritibhojan.
· Homeless Food Drive-supported by donations:
Once a week we provide between 140 to 240 packet hot lunch, with a drink and snack for external charities. The external charities support the homeless, refugees, rough sleepers and families in food poverty.
In 2024, we provided over 7300 meals, including a drink and snack.
This was supported by our 56 donor’s, we continue to provide the meals even when we have no donor’s. Donations are received from our members and the external community.
· Supporting the other committees of Jain Samaj

Donations:
Sunday Pritibhojan, the sponsorship levels available are:
• Platinum Sponsorship - £400.00 Plus – Sponsors discuss preferred menu with KC plus pay for all members who have registered that day. Total sponsorship will depend on the number of members on that day.
• Gold Sponsorship - £400.00 – Sponsors discuss preferred menu with KC including Shrikhand.
• Silver Sponsorship - £300.00 – Sponsors discuss preferred menu with KC excluding Shrikhand.
• Bronze Sponsorship - £150.00 – Menu will be decided by Committee.

We do accept online payment under ‘Donate US’ Menu (One off Donation).
